Too often we go through life on autopilot, going through the motions and having each day pass like the one before it. That’s fine, and comfortable, until you have gone through another year without having done anything, without having really lived life. That’s fine, until you have reached old age and look back on life with regrets. That’s fine, until you see your kids go off to college and realize that you missed their childhoods.
It’s not fine.
If you want to truly live life, to really experience it, to enjoy it to the fullest, instead of barely scraping by and only living a life of existence, then you need to find ways to break free from the mold and drink from life.
For all who leave me a comment below, I will send you a report of 40 ideas, obvious ones mostly that you could have thought of yourself, but that I hope are useful reminders. We all need reminders sometimes.
Leave me a comment and start living, today.
After you read the list, I’d love to hear your reactions!
amen sista! you already KNOW I’m a firm believer in CARPE DIEM and not just being alive, but AWAKE and really making the most of this life journey….as I mentioned in one of my blog posts: it’s not that life is so short, but that we wait so long to begin LIVING! have a great day sweet bella
Bernice, each night when I go to bed, I think the next day will be different, that I will wake up, that I will take the acting lesson, or learn something different, or take a class at the local community college. Then I wake up and it’s as if I’m a robot. I do the same thing as the day before. Well not exactly, I have volunteered for a local breast cancer foundation for the last five years (since its inception), but the rest of my life is rote. I am going on retreat in a few weeks….something I’ve needed for a long time. Used to go fairly often, but then work got in the way. Always enjoy your writing. Thank you,
Hi there. Why not? I need all the help I can get. Wait. You aren’t going to try to sell me anything are you?B/c I have developed an uncanny ability to say no without blinking. haha. Stopping by from SITS. Have a great day.
I am a half glass full kind of gal always looking for ways to make my life better!!! I would love your list!!!:)
Found you today on SITS!
Leslie
I’m ready for the list. I can always use some new ideas.
Okay if you are going to try to sell me something, don’t bother. I don’t buy! And I HATE junk email so please don’t put my email address on you “auto pilot” mailing list.
I do enjoy reading blogs and sharing life changing ideas.
If this is just an interesting way to get people to leave comments, I guess it worked but I don’t know that I like it very much. I would have rather found your list here.
I agree 100%- I’ve noticed that I’ve been trying to live “ahead” a lot- and so I’ve been practicing living in the present and being present EVERYDAY. We are all culprits. If we’re single we want to be married, if we’re in HS we want to be in college, when we’re in college we want to be “in the real world.” Even if we don’t necessarily like the place that we are in right now I think we can all say that we can take steps to be present in everyday life and not just simply countdown the days until we are someplace else or in another position.
I just found you, and I LOVE your ramblings! You can try to sell me something! hahaha I am a big girl and can decide if it is for me! What is the big deal- if you cannot share stuff to sell between each other?
Whoop-dee-doo!
I need your list! I have been on a tear for years and need to relax and smell some flowers!
Looking forard to more of your writing!

I just stumbled across your blog. I have never blogged before, but as I find myself going through something unnerving and profound, I thought it might help. I, too, am in my forties and looking for ways to live. I woke up one morning and realized I had no idea what I needed from life, but knowing I had to find it. So, the adventure begins…I would love to see your list. Also, I look forward to more of your “ramblings”. Stay strong.
I am sitting here ,wondering how to REALLY LIVE! Be ALIVE! COME ALIVE! I know that i’m merely existing now. i feel it in my bones, there’s got to be more. Of course, I am woman:) I have never been romanced, live with a submissive mother to an abusive father, how mentally enraged me. He has been dead for 14 years now, yet I get nightmares and wake up trembling. Oh, but where am I going with this! I want to live ! When I come to the end, I must say I’ve lived, Loved and I;m at peace, ready to go and embrace the other world. Oh! did I mention i’ll be 49 nov, 14th?

Your blog is inspiring to read! Love to get some tips abt living life more fully!
I couldn’t agree more! I have spent the past two years setting goals for myself and taking steps towards achieving them. I decided that I wa sno longer going to give myself any excuses! I’ve reache dmy first goal already (lost almost 140 lbs), and now I’m working on some different goals.
I have been exploring your site for the last couple days and added yours to my favorites. I live with several mental/emotional disorders. I am learning how to live beyond just existing. I had a full, productive life I loved and I know I will do so again, with one difference; more simple, more sane, and more true to myself.
