Yesterday was a difficult day. I had to practice my breathing quite a bit! Dealing with stressful family member, but at least right now I have the time, if barely the energy, to deal with him. And I wrote a nice long rant that I considered sharing with my bloggy world, but decided it was too personal, and too much whining. Better left for the journal!
I wanted to share 2 other natural stress relievers I like to use as much as I can. Air and water.
Actually, it isn’t really air, it’s being outside. Being outside in the fresh air, in the sunshine, feeling the wind blowing, hearing all the little noises, seeing the lovely greenery and foliage, all this can have a soothing effect on your stress mind and body. Now obviously, you don’t all live with a lovely manicured flower garden, I know I sure don’t! Seek out those areas of beauty wherever you are. I used to work in a downtown area of a small town and the city government had created a 25×50 flower and water garden near the town. I spent many lunch hours sitting there eating and relaxing. I even have tried to bring some of the outside in, with houseplants, but that doesn’t work so well as I have TWO brown thumbs! Find some places near you that you can escape to!
The second is wrapped up in the first. Being near water outside it wonderfully therapeutic and I am not necessarily talking about a swimming pool or a hot tub! (although those have their merits too!) Find the small lakes, ponds, creeks, streams, waterfalls near you. I love to sit near, lie near, walk around, and depending on where, to get in, WATER! If necessary, it is okay if it something manmade. I keep saying I am going to get me a little fountain for my back deck! Know what else I love? Listening to the rain.
One of my other stress relievers is hiking. I love to hike in the hills, near a stream. The physical activity increases my endorphins and the view and the air and the surroundings are like a medicine to me! I also love walking along the beach, listening to the crashing waves.
So if my family comes looking for me later today, I may be hiding in the woods, down by the lake, around the corner from my house!
My goal is to help as many women as possible with these issues we all deal with! Be sure to subscribe via email or RSS so you don’t miss any posts! If you know of someone who would benefit from the info in this post and in my blog, please click here to share!
divine,,,,,nice…
walk in nature…..talk with nature….
conversations with nature…..always fresh vision…..
love all…..
I love to hike! We also set up a fountain on our front porch so that I can hear the sounds of water even if we don’t live near water. It helps me to feel calm.
Stopping by from SITS.
Hiking does sound peaceful and I find sometimes just being “unplugged” helps…
