It’s the little things that bring a smile to your lips and peace to your soul. If you can quiet the noise, you can see and appreciate these gifts that God brings our way.
Things like-
- a butterfly flying through the air
- my little puppy mesmerized by that butterfly
- a text from my sweet husband
- a smile from my son, now a young man
- my grandbabies saying “I love you, Nana!”
- watching my entire family play in the street π
- My son preparing to be a daddy at 19
- my daughters learning to be strong, but still gentle
When this song first came out, I didn’t really listen to the lyrics. After a while, it really began to move me, and my 17 year old daughter, who is a reader of my blog, suggested this song for a post. There is not an official music video, but the girl who put this together did a great job. Take a moment and listen to the lyrics.
What things do you tend to overlook? As you go through the rest of your day, make a conscious effort to really be present in the moment, and enjoy the the little things that make this life grand.

great post, i’ve had friends share of their gratitude routine, where each night before bed they journal five things they are grateful for that day. What a way to get ourselves in the habit of acknowledging the blessings in our lives each and every day!
When we miss the little things, we miss what life is made of.
Thanks for this one.
What a beautiful post and it’s sooo very true. Remembering to be appreciative of the little things can help be ooh so grateful. Thanks for the wonderful post and thanks for visiting my blog Have a Blesed Week. Healthy Living And A Balanced You-www.aliciahunter.net
Beautiful! I cosign every word.
Thanks for visiting by my blog. I’m glad I visited yours and have started my day with this beautiful post and song.
Glitter in the Air is one of my favorite songs! Did you see her performance on the Grammy’s? amazing!
As for the little things… I do a gratitude journal and write every night, it truly helps. Whatever you put your attention to grows… so if you put your attention toward what you are grateful for, you’ll find more and more to be grateful for.
It’s true!
Beautiful post. Life is filled with magic, and with love. We just have to stop and see it.
great post. i am going to make a list of the little things from my day tonight. i love being reminded to slow down.
p.s. found you on SITS site. love your blog.
Thanks Bernice,
I see the beauty in all living creatures and the nature that surrounds it and always have. That is why I am vegan…I can’t eat my beautiful friends!
One more thing Bernice. I recently posted 3 video’s explaining human behavior and the pathways to and from depression/anxiety etc so I thought you might find it useful.

All the best,
David.
Did you see her perform this for the first time at the awards last year? It was INCREDIBLE!!! I fell in love with this song instantly and still stop and just “be in the moment” whenever I hear it. π
I got here from your comment on Gretchen Rubin’s blog…I was intrigued by your post because I have been OBSESSED with that song during the last week! It is incredibly beautiful! What a strange coincidence that you are loving it too π
It seems like people often underestimate the importance of the little things. All those little things add up! Anything puppy-related is definitely a favorite little thing to me π
I try hard to suscribe to the thought of finding happiness in every moment.
I find it makes me smile a lot more and although I still get down, I rarely am down for long.
That’s funny. Two days ago I had to make a trip to the BIG city, three hours away and I heard that song 3 times on XM Radio!
Love the song, a new one to me but one that resonates with the way I view things.
I’ve subscribed and look forward to reading more ramblings!
I’m always looking out for the ‘small stuff’…
So glad you stopped by my blog and mentioned your Pony cars!
Your husband texts you? Wow, he’s pretty special. Mine is still trying to figure out how to turn the darn thing on!
Yes, it’s the little things we often over look in life. Like the saying goes, stop and smell the roses!
Great blog!
What a beautiful, beautiful post. Such a great reminder. Thank you. I think noticing the little things and being thankful for them can make all the difference in the world. All the difference.
Happy Belated iFellowship Day!
Thanks for sharing and reminding!
My little things? My beautiful naked kiddos lying in bed and cuddling, funny FB messages from my friends that make me laugh, a soft breeze on my skin, the high of a good workout, my beautiful hydrangea bush right outside my window, the deep satisfaction that I get from cooking and eating a good meal.
Thanks for sharing that beautiful video. I am a huge Pink fan but somehow overlooked that song even though it is on my iPod.
I wrote a post about Pink’s So What. It’s a little cheekier than yours but her song brought me happiness nonetheless. Check it out. http://www.postcardsfromapeacefuldivorce.com/202/so-what-im-still-a-rockstar/
Molly, that is a great list of little things! My hubby and I laid out one evening this week just to look the stars…
I’ll have to check out that post of yours about Pink when I get to my computer!
Thanks for coming by,
Bernice
What a beautiful post! So many things are overlooked like the quietness before the kids are up. The singing of birds outside on the fence. Thank you for sharing!
You are very welcome Sherry!
I am trying hard to look at the ‘little things’ each and every day. This morning it was a red-headed woodpecker in my big pecan tree out front!
Bernice
Great list of simple pleasures. Just the little everyday things of life. That is what it is all about.
Great post, I enjoyed my visit today.
Thanks for sharing.
Hope your having a blessed day!
Came here earlier and was distracted by a phone call.
I love that song. It is almost the theme song for Simple Pleasures, don’t you think? It really is all about the little things.
Like tossing glitter in the air.
I think I’d like to go do that right now, in fact.
This is a lovely post, and you listed at least a week’s worth of simple pleasures. So glad you could join us today forSimple Pleasures. I didn’t see a link back to the party, but I’m adding it here for anyone interested.
I love your list. Good song too.
Love your list of Simple Pleasures…glad to see you join the party!
