Pardon for just a moment a proud grandma. Though this is not MY first, it is my Son’s first baby! My previous 6 were given birth to by my oldest daughter. Below is a picture 2 weeks ago at a fun family gathering. We had actually been playing in the street! My daughter lives on a cul-de-sac so playing in the street is ok!
Eggplant Parmigiana Works!
On Sunday, my son calls and asks me if I know where to get some eggplant parmigiana as he had heard it could make a pregnant woman go into labor. We told them to come on over and we’d head to our local italian restaurant. Son’s GF did not like the eggplant, but she ate 2 good slices of it.
After dinner we went to a local natural attraction. If you are ever in the Atlanta area, go to Stone Mountain. You can climb to the top (we didn’t, lol!), stay and watch a laser show in the evening with 1000′s of other people! We thought it would be a good place for GF to get some walking in! This granite rock is sticking up out of the middle of the ground. There are no other mountains in Altanta. Closest ones are an hour or 2 away. Really awesome if you think about it!
So what did YOU do on Labor Day?
After a great evening, we all went home to sleep in on Labor Day. Except Labor Day really turned out to be LABOR DAY for GF! She woke up at 8:30 am and her water broke. Off to the hospital they go, and we soon follow.
I won’t give the play by play, but let’s just say we aren’t real happy with the way everything played out, pitocin too early, pain meds too early, epideural too early, all were a recipe for a c-section waiting to happen, which is what happened. Poor GF was exhausted, beside herself and hyperventilating. Did I mention GF is only 17?
My Son, who is 19, did a great job and was right there with GF all the time. He even went into the c-section with her. They have been so excited waiting for Baby to arrive, and you have such high expectations of how you hope everything will turn out. Well, the main thing that turned out right in this situation is a very healthy beautiful baby girl. New mommy will have a little longer to recuperate, but her mom and my Son will be there to help her.

she’s beautiful ~ congratulations!
Adorable! Congratulations! A true Labor Day if I ever heard of one! BTW – I’ve been to Stone Mountain!
My aunt makes the most awesome Eggplant Parmessian(sp) – with delicious tomatoes she grows! So yum

Wow! I cannot think of a better way to spend a Labor Day than at the hospital waiting for your grandbaby! She is absolutely adorable! Congrats Grandma! The photo of your whole family is great. My oldest two daughters are spread throughout the country so i cannot see us having a nice photo with all of us for a LONG time… But I am glad they are out on adventures!
Stopping by from ifellowship today… she is so lovely! Congratulations and blessings on your day!
Aww!!
Even though the birth didn’t happen the way you wanted, you have a beautiful baby. That is always a blessing.
Absolutely beautiful! Congratulations and best wishes to everyone involved.
She is adorable! Glad everyone is healthy and happy. Congratulations to all!
I’ve got tears in my eyes! Despite being young, they certainly look like they’ll be excellent parents.
Eggplant parmigiana… hmmm I’ll need to test that out in 6 weeks from now when I reach full-term (baby #3 for me). Hot wings worked for #2, and #1 started with a spontaneous premature rupture of my membranes (preemie baby).
Congrats on your newest bundle of joy!
Thanks for stopping by today!! Congrats on the new addition!! I’ve never heard of the eggplant parmigiana! I’ll have to remember that next time! =)
God Bless your newest miracle! just glorious! i have never heard of the eggplant parm to induce, but what an intriguing thought – i love eggplant parm!
Eggplant. So it’s not just an old wives tale, mmm? LOL.
I’ve never heard that about eggplant. I do love me some eggplant parmesan, but I’m not going to get pregnant to test that theory!
When my sister was pregnant with her twins, she was on bedrest and meds to keep her from going into labor. At 35 weeks, they took her off the meds, but she didn’t go into labor. She was miserable, so the midwife told her to go have a margarita to relax herself. So we went to our favorite Mexican restaurant to for lunch. She had a margarita and something a little spicy, and then we went to the mall and walked laps. She went into labor that night.
By the way, congratulations! I’m glad the baby is healthy, and I hope Mommy recovers well.
Wait…did you say your oldest has 6 kids?
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment! We lived in N. Ga. for 11 years and I went to grad school at GSU, but can you believe we’ve never been to Stone Mountain?
Congratulations on the baby girl…she looks perfect!

Congratulations! And the eggplant and walking at Stone Mountain worked too! I also live near there. I can remember the first time Daddy took us to Stone Mt. and the many, many times after that. I still am in awe of it when I ride through Grayson or Decatur or even ATL and see it off in the horizon!
So now you are blessed with 7 grandchildren? I have 12, one of which is in Heaven with my Daddy. I love being a mom but I adore being Granny/Grandma!
I am reading the rest of your posts and will comment again soon. Hang in there girl!
