“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30 The Message
God has brought me to this place for a reason for a purpose. I just have to learn to lean on trust Him. Let Him show me how to rest. Let Him help me to learn to live freely and lightly. That in itself sounds so peaceful…
As part of my journey into wholeness, I had taken up writing this blog. Along with the writing, I’ve done a great deal of blog hopping and visiting lots of great blogs, from mommy to business to simplicity.
You know the saying “the good is the enemy of the great”? Well, at this point in my life, my greatest pursuit needs to mental, emotional and spiritual wholeness. The quantity of time spent in pursuit of building a better blog and attracting a following, is taking away from time I need to spend in other healing and rejuvenating activities. Time I need to spend in prayer and rest, exercise and fellowship with family and close friends.
Therefore, I am taking a step back. I would never walk away from what I have already built and grown, but I am slowing the pace. I have to learn to just ‘be’. That seems to be a real problem for me. I need to learn to rest in God and be comfortable in my own skin and who He wants me to be.
I will still be posting, just not everyday. I may use this time too, to share some other great posts from some great writers in the bloggy world. I also have compiled quite a list of links in my research, so I will probably share some of that as well.
For those of you who read my blog on a regular basis, it may be a good idea to sign up to receive updates by email so you don’t miss my not-so-regular posts! Also if you have any friends or loved ones dealing with depression and anxiety, please send send them to my blog. It helps so much to know that you are not alone when going through that valley! (I will be organizing the posts into a better format to read by category soon.) You can also click the appropriate icon below to share!

Good for you! Blogging can be consuming if you let it ~ to be, not do…sounds heavenly!
Best wishes to you as you strive to find the peace you are looking for. I enjoy your blog. But it needs to serve you first. If it is adding stress or keeping you from doing what you feel you should, it isn’t worth it.
I have you on my blog reader so I will continue to receive even as you change your schedule. I will be here waiting.
And I look forward to hearing what worked for you and what you learned. As you choose to share.
Do what makes you happy. I’ll be here when you post. I’ll sign up for you updates so I don’t miss your awesome thoughts and words.
Take care and God Bless!!
I wish you the best and look forward to your less frequent postings!
I know how consuming blogging can be, and I only post 2-3 times a week. You’re right to do what is best for you. You’ll be in my thoughts and prayers!
Stay well!
Barbara
good for you bella! I have committed to posting once a week, and that feels more than ample. I have been still doing recipe contests when I can, and I don’t stress it if I can’t make a deadline or miss one because there isn’t enough time to work on it, both for the blog posts and the recipes, I just leave it in the Lord’s hands and whatever He allows me to do I will continue to do, and if things are getting a little overwhelming and there isn’t any peace then I just let it pass by and on to the next one. It is still something I enjoy so much so, again, according to His will and what He allows.
I’ve really made an effort to “restore the balance” since returning home from the camping trip and trying to make sure that I keep sincere quality time with the Lord and my family top priority and the rest can just wait… all of it!
Bernice, your blog is wonderful and I look forward to reading your future posts. I often read them on my BlackBerry while sitting at Starbuck’s. I find a steaming cup of Earl Grey tea calms my nerves (well…as hot as you can get it at Starbuck’s…
All the best.
Thank you so much Kathryn! It is nice to get such feedback!
Bernice

Everyone needs to step back every now and then. Many blessings to you while you take a break. Thanks for stopping by my blog!
Thanks for stopping by. I’m sure if you read some, you’ll know we’re both struggling with some of the similar issues. i’m so glad you stopped in and left me a note. it’s always a blessing to my heart to find a sweet sister in the same boat. Makes not seem so lonely. Take a break, find joy and wholeness, feel free to email me too. I’m going to spend some time here, reading. I do appreciate some of your buttons, as I draw closer to 40!
What a beautiful blog! It is so ironic that as women we are so uniquely different yet so universally the same in our thoughts, desires, and struggles. Thank you for sharing your journey. Thanks, too, for visiting my blog.
My dad was a pastor my whole life, so I’ve been exposed to nearly every translation of the Bible in existence. But I love the Message. It’s so beautifully written and so perfectly attuned to the way we live. Thanks for that.
[...] Ahh, this is the one that is giving me the most trouble. Just learning to BE. Not having to DO all the time, but just BE. Enjoy life, spend time with those you love, play a little, eat good food and take care of personal needs, and then… rest a while. [...]
Thanks so much for linking up with me on Wednesday at Good Morning Girls! I totally agree with you, blogging can take a lot of your free time and I’m learning too that you have to put it in it’s place at times. It shouldn’t come before our time with God or our family, but it can be such a temptation. I totally understand what you are going through and I appreciate your obedience!!!
